Pros: Gets the job done, very quiet without obnoxious clicking or squeaking.
Cons: Do NOT Remove the key caps. They do NOT go back on easy. I got some debris stuck beneath the keys and have spent 40 minutes trying to get my tab key back on to no avail.
Pros: -Keys feel is ideal. I'm a fan of the Lenovo laptop keyboards and this feels pretty similar.
-Slim
Cons: -Spacebar has been so squeaky I'm about to stop using it. No other keys have this problem. It started right away and I was able to stop it by undoing two of the pins for the key (this left the spacebar slightly askew, but not enough to bother me). After a few months the squeak has come back. Maybe a few squeaks now and again won't bother you.
-The layout of the home, delete, etc. is a bit weird, but you get used to that quickly
Pros: It's slim and quiet, what I wanted from a non mechanical keyboard...
Cons: But the 'W' key sticks 90% of the time. I've not yet decided if it's something that it'll snap out of or is going to hinder the usability so much that I'll throw it away.
Pros: This thing feels great. An absolute 5-star keyboard. It almost makes me want to type. I wanted a keyboard that had key pressure similar to my laptop. I finally found it--at an affordable price. I threw away my Kinesis Freestyle2--Supposedly a fancy ergo keyboard. This thing blew it out of the water for 1/3 the cost. It has good weight and standard layout too. No drivers required for the Fn keys to work.
Update 3/20/2017: Still the best keyboard I have ever owned.
Cons: Keys may show ware after some use.
It doesn't do my laundry for me.
Pros: 30 dollars for a comfortable, slim keyboard. not much more you need.
Cons: does not have sick LEDs - very limiting on my elite XXX pro heliocentric gaming pyramid
Pros: The short:
- Great, long-lasting durability and quality, despite my elitist, low opinion of the Kensington brand
- QUIET!!! Practically whisper-quiet - nobody on conference calls can hear me typing, even when the microphone is barely a foot away from the typing action.
- Decent size and good tactile feedback even though it's not a mechanical keyboard.
- Great for offices, and decent for gaming, too.
I don't write reviews unless I have strong feelings about a product, which is pretty rare for me, so when I write a review, it's for good reason. Now, I'm one of those people that strongly believes in 'You get what you pay for', so I prefer big name brands (Logitech, in particular), and Kensington has always seemed like one of those companies that make cheap, low-quality versions of everything.
I picked this keyboard up from a local PC hardware store after numerous comments from people on conference calls asking who was typing and asking me to go on mute. This store had a display model and it seemed pretty quiet when I was testing, but at a price point of about $25, I figured I'd probably end up having to replace it after a couple months. Boy, was I wrong!
FOUR YEARS later, I finally had to replace the keyboard because something got underneath one of the keys and I tried to take a cleaning shortcut by popping off one of the keys, figuring it would be trivial to put back on. Sadly, after repeated attempts to put the key back on properly, I just had to give up. It is very telling that I felt sad having to toss a low-cost keyboard into the trash.
Cons: - Keys are difficult to put back on correctly once you take them off.
- It tends to collect and trap dust and fur/hair over time (I have cats that like to walk on the desk, which doesn't help, but the thin spaces in-between keys trap the stuff). It's fairly easy to just run something thin through the spaces to easily pull up any trapped fur, though, so it's relatively easy to clean as long as you don't start popping off the keys.
- A strangely-larger-than-normal Delete key (not a big deal, since the layout is otherwise normal).
Other Thoughts: This is likely one of the best keyboards you can possibly have for an office environment. Quiet, consistent, easy typing. Just fantastic all-around. I'm now back onto a Logitech G105 keyboard and find that I much prefer the Kensington.
Pros: love the feel of the keys
layout is great
slick design
Cons: -spilled coffee on it day 5 , took it apart to clean it but found out its a solid state thing, there is no servicing this keyboard
not really a con though it still works, just a few keys are a bit sticky, im sure theres some way to fix it, i would get another one to replace it anyways cause i really like the feel of it
Pros: - Long lasting. I'm just now ordering my second unit of this type. First one lasted 5+ years of constant use. Gaming + workflow + general use the whole time. A few spills on the keyboard during that span as well.
- Relatively quiet keys (bought this originally for use in a shared dorm room)
- Great if you like chiclet/macbook stye keys, but with more breathing room
Cons: - After 5+ years of constant use, some of the keys on my first unit are losing their sensitivity. Still usable, but annoying. Time to order a second one.
Other Thoughts: Would recommend if you don't need an ergonomic or gaming keyboard. Works well for general use and fine for non-pro gaming. Relatively quiet. Expect to last you years!
Hello David,
Thank you for providing us the opportunity to assist you.
I can imagine the inconvenience you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to fix the issue. In addition to that I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.
- What is the make and model of your computer?
- Were there any significant software or hardware changes made prior to this issue?
As per the issue description you are getting an yellow exclamation mark on USB wireless keyboard in device manager. In addition to that it is showing under unknown device.
When you view device information in Device Manager, you may see a device listed as Unknown Device next to a yellow question mark. The main reason for Unknown Device to display in your Device Manager is either because the device does not have a device driver or because of unrecognized Device Id.
Every hardware device has a special identifier that is used by Plug and Play. This identifier can include several different types, such as vendor ID, device ID, subsystem ID, subsystem vendor ID, or revision ID. If a device ID is not present, or your Windows computer does not recognize the device ID, Device Manager may list the device as unknown.
Let’s try these methods below and check if that solves the problem.
Method 1:
First, I would suggest you to run the following Microsoft fixit to get the problem automatically detected and fixed. This fixit automatically diagnose and fix problems with hardware. (USB) Mice and keyboards are not detected by the device manager or when they are not working.
Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows
Method 2:
If the above suggested fixit does not help remove the “unknown devices” from the device manager and restart the computer.
Follow the steps below to do so:
- Click Start, type Device Manager in the Start search box and hit Enter.
- Locate the Other or Unknown devices and expand the same.
- Select the unknown or other device, right-click and select remove.
- Restart the computer, if prompted.
Drivers should get installed automatically after restarting the computer.
If Windows fails to install the drivers automatically you may refer the article below to install them manually.
Update a driver for hardware that isn’t working properly.
Hope this helps. Please let us know the results. Feel free to write us back for any further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you.
Regards,
